Convulsive and eventful finale at the end of the first stage (departure and arrival in Pontedera) of the third Giro della Valdera, national competition for juniors organized by the company “Una Bici X Tutti”. Riccardo Colombo won in the photo finish with his second success of the season against Montagner, one of the main favorites of the race in which 150 athletes from 30 clubs took part.

But let’s start from the very last kilometers when the group of fugitives was joined by the group which also caught Sporzon 150 meters from the finish line, who had tried to relaunch the action with a sprint two kilometers from the finish line. Meanwhile, on the straight of via De Gasperi, fortunately without any consequences, two falls occurred and the sprint was signed by Colombo from Pool Cantù GB Junior, first leader of the race, of the points classification and of the youth classification. In places of honor Montagner and Fantini (first in the mountain grand prix), then Dentelli and Durelli. The meeting of the race in the historic center of Pontedera in Piazza Cavour with a breakaway started around the fiftieth kilometer by Manion, Tavelli, Balestra, D’Uizia and Vianello caught in the final by Sinigaglia and Sporzon. The attempt, however, didn’t go through and the winning idea was from Colombo in a wonderful head-to-head with the blue Montagner.

Tomorrow the second stage from Casciana Terme to Chianni of 85,700 km (start at 2 pm) considered the most difficult of the three scheduled.
