Rome, 18 June 2024 – The video it showed Romania fans intonation chants in favor of Putin during the European Championship match won 3-0 against Ukraine he was a fake. The video, which immediately became viral on social networkshad initially been relaunched also by an article – later removed – of British Mirror.

All false, therefore. No chant for the president of Russia in the stands of the Allianz Arena in Munich. The StratComa Ukrainian government body created to combat the Russian disinformationhas in fact reported that it is a fake and that the clip was made manipulating a typical choir of the fans in which Putin is instead insulted.

The fake video shows the Romanian fans at the stadium filmed from behind: some of them cheer with their hands raised and at a certain point you can hear the chant of “Putin, Putin”. No one is shot head-onso that you cannot see the movement of the lips, while the movement of the arms it is not synchronized with the singing.

The clip went viral on social media, from X to Telegram, dividing users between comments of support or condemnation for the chant against Ukraine. A few hours later, the Center for Strategic Communications of Ukraine (StratCom) analyzed the video and determined that it was a fake: “This video is fake”, we read on the website of the Kiev government body.

“Those who made it replaced the soundtrack. In the clip the authors of the fake used the famous chorus of Ukrainian fans about the dictator, from which they cut a part, you know what word”, underlines the StratCom. The reference is to the Ukrainian stadium choir ‘Putin – khuylo!’ (Putin is an asshole…) born in 2014 among Ukrainian fans and then spread as a protest song throughout the country and beyond.

On some accounts of 2020.
