“Rafael Nadal can still win Roland Garros”

Patrick Mouratoglou has once again spoken out about Rafael Nadal’s future at Roland Garros. In fact, for Holger Rune’s current coach, 2024 will not be the Spaniard’s last year as a professional tennis player, who himself has reiterated on several occasions that he still has doubts about when to abandon competitions entirely (the door was left open both in Rome and Paris).

The Frenchman made some interesting considerations in an interview with Tennis Majors, touching on his withdrawal from Wimbledon and his desire to prepare for the five-round games: “The fact that he decides not to go to London is another clear a signal that he wants to win the Olympics, that he believes he can do it and that this will not be his farewell year.

He is not willing to go to tournaments to greet everyone, otherwise he would have played on grass. He wants to win the Olympics. And that’s why he is preparing on clay, I’m sure he will do well after accumulating many other training sessions,” the 54-year-old said.

“In 2025 he can be a potential Roland Garros winner”

Mouratoglou also believes it regarding the 2025 edition of the Parisian Slam: “The conditions in which Zverev arrived were the worst for him.

Deep down, Rafa knew he was still far from his best level, apart from the fact that that day the pitch was very humid and the ball barely bounced. If they had played that match outdoors, with lots of heat and sun, we would definitely have seen something different.

We will see these conditions at the Olympic Games, as they will be held several weeks later. I think he’ll do well. Next year he can be a potential winner of Roland Garros, I’m sure of it” she added and affirmed.
