I am Beatrice Vittoria Gatti in the women’s field and Giovanni Enrico Boi among the boys, the winners of the 18th edition of the Città di Crema Tournament, the international Under 16 Tennis Europe event which is now a pleasant tradition on the continental calendar, with some of the best young people in the category committed to seeking the title. This time too there was no shortage of foreign talents, but Italian tennis confirmed once again that it is in a golden moment. Just as the professionals are exalting themselves, so too are (driven by example) the kids who are still engaged in the long journey to get to the top.

In the women’s field, Gatti from Lombardy (member of the Quanta Village in Milan) overcame Ginevra De Angelis from Marche in straight sets, without ever risking compromising an advantage that was evident from the start. For Beatrice, Crema was a clear path, considering that in five matches she did not lose a set, dominating most of the partials played. In the end, she conceded only 16 games to her rivals, a sign of a hegemony that found sublimation in the decisive match. However, Giovanni Enrico Boi from Pavia (member of Amp Pavia) needed the third set and won the third set against Tommaso Falardi from Bergamo, as he had already done in the semi-final against Pescosolido. For the loser, it still remains an important week, which can provide morale for the future. For Boi, on the scoreboard as a wild card, the confirmation of a period of great form and great confidence in his abilities.

The Lombard club’s balance sheet can only be positive, and the tournament director, Jessica Festari, sums it up. “We are very satisfied, also for the excellent performance of the Italian players who secured all the trophies. Some of them are truly great fighters, like the finalists of the men’s draw, who are also well-mannered and dedicated to studying. There was a certain surprise with the all-Italian finals, but I must say that each of them deserved the result they achieved. We as an organization are now well-established, we have a well-oiled machine that always works, trying to please everyone. Players and teachers complimented us, which is always a pleasure.”
