CAORLE (VENICE)– It was an exhilarating first day of the main draw of the 1st Gold stage of the Italian beach volleyball championship currently taking place at the Peter Pan Beach Arena in Caorle. Tomorrow we are preparing to experience the highlight of the first Gold event of the Italian Absolute Fonzies Championship 2024. After the qualifications which took place yesterday, today’s matches decreed both the first eliminations and the accesses reserved for two of the four semi-finalist couples for each draw . Tomorrow is therefore a decisive day; from the fourth losing round, scheduled for 8.15am, the grid of teams that will compete to reach the final will be completed. The objective will be to win the first Gold title of the season and therefore accumulate important and fundamental points in the general classification.

yesterday, today we officially entered the heart of the event; forty-eight matches in the main draw, twenty-four in the women’s tournament and twenty-four in the men’s tournament, in fact set the Caorle beach ablaze, giving everyone present moments of great entertainment. Today’s matches decreed both the first eliminations and access reserved for two of the four semi-finalist couples for each draw. WOMEN’S BOARD-

The first team to reach the semi-finals in the women’s tournament was the one composed of Sara Breidenbach and Chiara They. The number one couple in the women’s draw did not disappoint expectations; for the Open Beach Milano team, winner among other things of the Gold Final of the 2024 Italian Club Championship in Bibione (VE) which took place last Sunday in Bibione (VE), an important hat-trick arrived today: Breidenbach/ Thei managed to overcome in order Valentina Mengaziol/Marta Masiero (21-12, 21-9), Eleonora Annibalini/Anna Pelloia (22-20, 21-18) and Eleonora Sestini/Erika Ditta (21-19, 22-20 ).

The other two semi-finalist couples in the women’s draw will instead emerge from the matches scheduled for tomorrow and which will pit Eleonora Annibalini and Anna Pelloia against Giada Benazzi and Michela Lantignotti (8.15 am), and Eleonora Sestini and Erika Ditta against Greta Cavestro and Jessica Belliero Piccinin (at 9).

MEN’S SCOREBOARD –

With three victories in as many matches, the pair formed by Giacomo Spadoni and Michele Luisetto gained the first pass for the semi-finals in the men’s draw; the PowerBeach team managed to overcome Raoul Acerbi/Riccardo Copelli (21-18, 21-17) and Davide Dal Molin/Paolo Ingrosso (21-18, 21-18) in the first two outings of the main draw; in the third and decisive match came the success against the reigning Italian champions, Carlo Bonifazi/Davide Benzi overcome 2-0 (21-19, 23-21). Prestigious victory which therefore opened the doors to the semi-finals for Spadoni/Luisetto.
The other team to reach the semi-finals was the one composed of Gianluca Dal Corso and Marco Viscovich; the Azzurri achieved three successes respectively against Oleksandr Siedikh/Robert Torello (21-15, 21-10), Tiziano Andreatta/Manuel Alfieri (21-18, 21-19) and Davis Krumins/Marco Caminati (19-21, 21- 16, 15-11). For the federal pair, three important confirmations which earned them the second pass valid for the matches valid for access to the final.

The losers will clash tomorrow in the fourth round and therefore play for access to the semi-finals, with Matteo Lancellotti and Matteo Bertoli against Davide Benzi and Carlo Bonifazi (10 am), while Davide Dal Molin and Paolo Ingrosso will instead face Davis Krumins/Marco Camnati ( 10.45).
