Volleyball player Ivan Zaytsev could become the first indoor Serie A athlete to take part in the King & Queen beach volleyball tour. The Tsar, now ex of Lube, after the first stage of the Italian beach volleyball championship, from 20 to 22 June, will participate in the King Serie A tournament in Alba Adriatica, where there will be athletes who have just finished the indoor volleyball championship. In less than two months, the well-known champion will have to collect the points needed to participate in the King of the beach, reserved for the best beach volleyball athletes based on the updated Fipav rankings, scheduled for 6 and 7 August.
The tournament, now in its twenty-fifth edition, will be held as usual on the central seafront of Civitanova, in the stretch of free beach between the ‘Il Veneziano’ and ‘Attilio’ chalets. Zaytsev already practiced beach volleyball in his youth, winning the tricolor in 2008 with Giorgio Domenghini. “Lots of curiosity – comment the organizers of the King & Queen of the beach – so for the debut of Zaytsev and Lupo (Olympic vice champion in Rio), the latter has never played the King and therefore it is right to talk about a double wait The only doubt that will be resolved soon enough is whether the European volleyball confederation will grant Lupo and Zaytsev the wild card to participate in the finals of the European championships which will take place in Holland starting from August 13th, which would obviously be complicated the dream of the King’s organizers as it would be certain and understandable that the new Italian beach couple, coached by Marco Solustri, would give priority to training to face the continental final”. Zaytsev recently announced his farewell to Lube, a team with which he won numerous trophies.
