Juventus, Thiago Motta is the new coach: contract signed

It’s official: the new Juventus coach is Thiago Motta. The Italian-Brazilian coach has signed an agreement with the Juventus club until 30 June 2027. Juventus announced it with a note on its website. Motta, who moved to Juventus after leading Bologna to an extraordinary qualification for the Champions League, in Turin replaces Massimiliano Allegri, sacked after a disappointing three years on the bench of the Old Lady, enhanced only by this year’s victory in the Italian Cup.

Motta’s arrival is destined to coincide with a profound renewal of the team’s squad. Cristiano Giuntoli, the club’s number 1 manager, is working to revolutionize the staff and provide the coach with a team capable of interpreting the new tactical project after Allegri’s three-year period.

“Forty-two years still to go, Thiago Motta embarked on his career as a coach in 2018 – starting from the youth team of Paris Saint Germain, the team with which he had finished his adventure as a player a few months earlier; in Italy he arrived on the bench of Genoa in 2019, to then coach Spezia and Bologna, the team in which in the last two years he managed to make the most of his playing ideas and with which he achieved a historic qualification for the Champions League”, we read on juventus .com.

“I am really happy to begin a new experience at the helm of a great club like Juventus. I thank the owners and the management to whom I assure all my ambition to keep the Juventus colors high and make the fans happy”, are Motta’s first words as Juventus coach.
