Marc Márquez gave a long interview to Cadena SER, where he spoke on the program a El Larguero Manu Carreño and Mela Chercoles.

Márquez said he was “contented and happyeven if a little sleepy” because “yesterday I had trouble sleeping a little, and today was a long day, with calls to sign. I don’t know if I can say this, but this morning at eight I signed the contract. The agreement is for two years, with Ducati, with the bike that wins. At the moment there is no faster bike.”

Marquez was asked about the differences between GP23 and GP24…

“Time is very relative. Neither the engineers nor the pilots can tell you. Half a second? No, it’s a lot. From one year to the next there is an improvement of two tenths per lap, or four seconds in the race, which is a lot, but it is very relative”

About 2025…

“Next year we will have to fight for the title. I made a very important decision, that of leaving Repsol Honda, the team of my whole life, with a difficult emotional load, but I did it by giving priority to my sporting career and to sport, which was in search of results. When there are results, there is motivation. You have to have courage and desire when you face such an important challenge, because I will get on the best bike, the one that wins, and I will see what happens. There you expose yourself to everything, to criticism, to praise, to everything that can happen, but I wanted to do it because I saw that otherwise my sporting career would have been different. He has had four years of injuries, without results, and the motivation is difficult to keep there. And above all trust. I put a plan in my head, a strategy, and it’s going very well.”

Why didn’t you accept the condition that Martín accepted, that is, that the position would go to whoever won between the two?

“Simple. One of the reasons, the main one, is that if you have to earn it on the track you have to have the same weapons, and I don’t have them now. But it’s not an excuse and I’m showing that I can be competitive. Another thing is that I was very clear that I would not change from one satellite team to another. And third point, the athletes not only have sports contracts but there are others with sponsors who have followed me throughout my career and a multinational closes in September for the next two years and can’t wait. It was unachievable.”

Bdid agnaia compliment you?

“No, no (smiles, ed.) but the CEO of Ducati called me (Domenicali, ed.) and complimented me”

On why he was chosen…

“The card that weighs the most is the track and the Ducati engineers, as they told me, are watching my progression with the 2023 bike and this one weighed much more than the rest. Then there are other factors too.”

About Dall’Igna…

“We have always had a very direct and very sincere relationship with Gigi, and I am in Ducati thanks to Gigi Dall’Igna. He is the engineer who conquered what he touched. One of the phrases I tell him when we start talking is: “for me the most important thing, in 2025 and 2026, is that you are still in Ducati, because otherwise we don’t even need to sit down”
