The 639 million Pnrr tenders are ready to install 18,880 charging stations on Italian streets. In more detail: 360 million for 7,500 fast charging stations along extra-urban roads and 279 million for another 10,880 in urban centres. Final, and not simple, objective: to make 21,255 public fast charging points available to citizens.
3 thousand already under construction. There could have been more without the Eni-Be Charge backtracking
Up to now, the PNRR has financed 3 thousand stations charging stations which, as underlined by the Ministry of Energy Security, are “under construction“.
We could have been much further ahead, but as written by Vaielettrico last April: “Be Charge – a subsidiary of Eni Plenitude – had grabbed the largest slice of the pie from 121 million euros put on the table by the Pnrr. Exactly the funds to install 2,738 charging stations out of the 4,700 put up for tender. Now it announces that it will make less than half of them: only 1,063″.
Doors also open to small operators
The ministry’s website states: “The tender notices are addressed to companies of any size and operating in all sectors, as well as temporary groupings (RTI)“.
A true free-for-all compared to the previous edition, which was largely deserted: now the doors are also open to small operatorsThe minister underlines this: “Following the innovations introduced in the new notices, widely shared with industry associations We hope to receive a large number of project proposals from operators which will allow us to achieve the ambitious Pnrr target”. What has changed? They have been reduced size of territorial areas and the possibility of accessing the benefits is also given “to the RTI being formed and receive a share of the financing as an advance“. With the hope that the operators will be able to complete the works.
The contribution covers up to 40% of the costs
For the measure dedicated to urban centers the concessions are granted for a amount not exceeding 40% of eligible expenses and the maximum eligible cost for each charging infrastructure is equal to 65,000 eurosThe power must be of at least 90 kW.
Also for the call dedicated to extra-urban roads the contribution is 40% but the maximum admissible cost rises to 121,500 euros for a power of at least 171 kW.
When does it start? The green light from GSE
The two tenders will be headed by GSE (Energy Services Manager) as the entity managing the measure. As can be read on the website: “Soon operators will be able to submit the application for access to the benefits through the GSE Customer Area“.
