The Club World Cup case is enriched with a new episode, including published interviews and denial press releases. The statement by Carlo Ancelotti, manager of the Blancos and recent winner of the Champions League, reported on newsstands by The newspaper on the occasion of his 65th birthday. The Reggiolo coach had firmly declared – according to the words printed in the newspaper – that the Merengues will not take part in the event, adding that like them, many other clubs will also decline the invitation. Words that followed an important controversy that also involved the main European league, the Premier League, towards FIFA. Then the sharp denial in the afternoon on social media: “My words about the FIFA Club World Cup were not interpreted the way I intended. Nothing could be further from my interest than to refuse the chance to participate in a tournament that I consider a great opportunity to continue fighting for big titles with Real Madrid”. Ancelotti: “Real, no Club World Cup”
Let’s start again from the evidently shocking statement, with Ancelotti explaining why Real Madrid will not take part in the Club World Cup, revealing how also other companies would be ready to behave in the same way: “Club World Cup? FIFA forgets it, players and clubs will not participate in that tournament. A single Real Madrid match is worth 20 million and FIFA wants to give us that amount for the entire cup. Negative. Like us, other clubs will refuse the invitation“.
The event organized by FIFA, made official one year ago, is scheduled for the summer of 2025, precisely from 15 June to 13 July. A tournament to be held in the USA and in which 32 teams are expected to participate, coming from different parts of the world (12 from Europe, Juventus and Inter qualified for Italy) and with the vast majority of places already assigned.
