(Saverio Albanese for iVolleymagazine.it) The coach Cesar Douglas Silva leaves our “beautiful country” after three consecutive seasons for a new, fascinating adventure in Poland: he will be the new coach of Norwid Częstochowa. The Polish team, which achieved a painful survival in the last season of the Plus Liga, finishing in 15th and penultimate place with 24 points (seven wins and 23 defeats) with a four-point lead over Czarni Radom, has decided to focus heavily on experience of Cesar Douglas to play a decidedly quieter tournament, already putting another fundamental “piece” in their roster, with the arrival of the captain of the Iranian national team Milad Ebadipour.

Two years ago, the Brazilian coach on the bench of Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia in Serie A2 achieved a fantastic “treble” by winning the Italian Cup (3-0 against Castellana Grotte) and the Italian Super Cup (3-0 against Cantù ), both played on the friendly Taraflex of “Pala Maiata” and promotion to the Super League after a sensational Play Off, overcoming Ravenna in the quarterfinals, Santa Croce in the semifinals and Bergamo in the final.
This fantastic season was subsequently culminated with the classic “icing on the cake” with the conquest of the 33rd edition of the “Costa-Anderlini” award with the recognition of Best Coach of the Serie A2 tournament 2022-2023.

Finally, last season, Cesar Douglas began his first adventure in the Super League with the freshman Farmitalia Catania (which had acquired the title from the company led by the knight Pippo Callipo), which lasted just thirteen games – a victory obtained at home in the seasonal debut of the second day in four sets against Cisterna Latina and twelve defeats -, where his boys, especially at home, had given important signals against Rana Verona, Allianz Milano, Mint Vero Volley Monza, all lost in four sets and against the renowned Valsa Group Modena, capitulating at the photo finish in the decisive fraction (13-15 the final).
In the second part of the season, however, from January 11th precisely, he replaced Giacomo Tomasello on the bench of the Marche team Abba Pineto, who, by twist of fate, had taken the place of Farmitalia Catania in A2, gaining 14 points in 11 games, with five precious victories (three of which in the fifth and decisive part with Castellana Grotte away, Cuneo and Aversa at home), essential for staying in the second national category. Reggio Emilia at home and Ortona away, both obtained with a poor maximum, completed the “five”, while with the leaders Grottazzolina at home and Cantù away, they were defeated in the tie break.
In his first season in Italy as head coach, he reached the Play Off semi-final in Serie A2 on the bench of Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce, defeated in two games by Cuneo (1-3 at home and 3-0 away).
