He thanks everyone for “the great affection received” Roberto Baggio, fresh from a violent robbery suffered in his country house in Arzignano, in the Vicenza area, during Italy-Spain. Through his historic manager Vittorio Perrone, the former footballer explained how «in similar circumstances anything can happen, and fortunately the violence I suffered only generated a few stitches on my person, bruises and a lot of fear. Now – he concludes – the fear remains to be overcome.” Baggio was held kidnapped by the gang of criminals together with his family for around 40 minutes. While they were locked in a room of the house, Baggio was also hit on the head with the butt of a gun. During the night Baggio underwent treatment at the emergency room in Arzignano. The doctors applied some stitches to his head after the blow he suffered. Then he was interviewed by the Vicenza carabinieri, who investigated the matter.
The manager’s story
As manager Perrone explained, the bandits’ attack against Baggio was a «lightning attack, in full light, which did not allow the activation of all the best security systems with which the villa is equipped. Now, based on what happened, we will further strengthen the daytime detection systems throughout the perimeter.” Petrone underlines that «what happened yesterday to Roberto and his family has already been experienced by many other families. Only when you are hit do you realize the wounds left by an episode of violence and oppression suffered in your home, together with your family. Roberto once again amazed me with the clarity and strength of mind he expressed immediately following the attack he suffered. I am sure that Roberto will once again be the pillar on which his entire family can lean to leave this brutal attack behind. The investigators are working intensely to bring the culprits to justice.”
