Federico Williams, who arrived in Recco in the summer of a year ago to bring his great experience as U16 coach and technical support to the First Team, now becomes Sports Director and Technical Director of the club, assistant coach of the First Team and will continue to coach the U16 thus continuing the path undertaken with the young Sharks.
It is he himself who explains his new role and gives news of the first and important news: “I am very happy with this assignment, which for me is a source of great pride and equally responsibility, to make Pro Recco return to being that point of reference of Ligurian rugby that it was for twenty years until the COVID catastrophe: I am excited to face this new challenge and we are already working on changes that will soon be visible. For the first year I would like to focus above all on the creation of a staff with a high level of competence and therefore we will start by making coaches and educators grow from a technical point of view thanks to internships and monthly refresher appointments and I also care a lot about working with schools in order to to increase the number of members, creating a real social and commercial project for the Club. As regards the youth teams, after last season’s “test” limited to the U18s, we will expand the collaboration with the Western Provinces of my friend and former teammate at Milan Paolo Ricchebono also at U16 and U14. I am very happy to already be able to confirm the return to Recco of Sebastian Quiroga, who will follow with me the work on the technical “skills” of all categories, and we are working on other additions that concern both technicians and players. After the beautiful end of the current season with a super Argentine barbecue at the camp which involved adults, children and families, I can’t wait to start a new season of changes, great stimuli and novelties”.
For those who don’t know yet, who is Federico Williams? Argentinian from Tucuman, born in 1966, after winning three national titles in Argentina he arrived in Italy in 1991 and won three championships with Milan as a fullback, he became eligible for the blue shirt and played in the national 7s team and also boasts a call-up with the senior national team. Graduated in economics in Argentina, consultant and commercial manager with great experience in the world of advertising and not only in Italy, he coached for several years in Milan and its province and in the summer of 2023 he arrived at Pro Recco Rugby after moving to Liguria with the family.
