The European Championships continue at the Olympic Stadium in Rome 2024 athletics event, the morning of the second day of competitions proved to be very interesting. He did it by looking back several times on the final straight, slowing down and getting up well in advance. The absolute national record already holds (44.77 by Davide Re), but the impression is that he could have even greater margins for improvement. Meanwhile he sets the best time of the round ahead of the Swiss Lionel Spitz (45.37) and the French David Sombe (45.45), but now he dreams bigger. Edoardo Scotti also advances (second in the first heat in 45.59 behind the Belgian Jonathan Sacoor, 45.50), while Riccardo Meli is eliminated (46.17).

400 METERS (WOMEN) – All Italians promoted: Alice Mangione (second in the second heat in 51.71), Anna Polinari (second in the third heat in 52.06), Giancarla Trevisan (third in the first heat in 52.22). Best time of the Frenchwoman Amandine Brossier (51.30).

POLE Vault (WOMEN) – Elisa Molinarolo and Roberta Bruni qualified for the final: the Venetian was the protagonist of a clear path up to 4.50 meters, while the Roman crossed the bar at 4.50 on the second attempt. However, Sonia Malavisi was eliminated, who makes three errors at altitude after exceeding 4.40 in the first test and is thus the first of those excluded. All the big names announced on the eve advance: the Finnish Wilma Murto, the British Molly Caudery, the Swiss Angelica Moser, the Greek Aikaterini Stefanidi, the Czech Amalie Svabikova and the German Anjuli Knaesche. 100 METERS (WOMEN) – Anna Bongiorni joins Zaynab Dosso in the semifinals. The Italian record holder was exempted from the preliminary round because she was among the best in the continental ranking. The Italian concluded the heat at third place with a time of 11.35 (0.4 m/s of favorable wind) behind the German Lisa Mayer (11.20) and the Belgian Delphine Nkansa (11.28), continuing her adventure with the eleventh time of the session.

Sveva Gerevini is the protagonist of a beautiful long jump of 6.33 meters with 1.1 m/s of headwind, stopping just one centimeter from the personnel. The Italian thus collects 953 points in the specialty and thus occupies the seventh place in the general classification with 4,688 points after five tests out of the seven scheduled, remaining in full contention for the national record and also for a not simple assault on the medals.
