MotoGP – Bagnaia like Rossi, Petrucci and almost like Stoner

A few statistics on Pecco

At Mugello Francesco Bagnaia he triumphed, both in the Sprint and in the GP, with this being his twenty-second success which brought him to twelfth place in the driver rankings for victories, reaching sacred monsters such as Geoff Duke, Kenny Roberts and John Surtees.

Pecco is one victory away from Casey Stoner, who he will be able to match also in terms of podiums having achieved 40 so far and the Australian 42. For now he has reached Andrea Dovizioso in the number of podiums with Ducati.

The names of the Italian winners on June 2nd at Mugello

Pecco then won in Italy on June 2nd and it is only the third time that an Italian driver has won on Republic Day. Before him they succeeded Valentino Rossi in 2002 and Danilo Petrucci in 2019. At Mugello the Piedmontese has been winning for three years and the last rider to achieve three consecutive victories before him was Jorge Lorenzo (we are talking about the years 2011-2013) and what’s more, these two are the only ones to have won starting from fifth place on the grid.

The double had been missing for three years

With second place of Enea Bastianini the official Ducati team instead achieved a double that had been missing since 2021, then Jack Miller and Bagnaia himself succeeded. The Bolognese manufacturer then took the podium for the fourth time in a row. The last brand to achieve this was Honda: it was 1998, from the Malaysian GP to the French GP.
