Only two weeks have passed since the salvation of Velcofin Interlocks Vicenza, obtained in the play-out against Dimensione Bagno Carugate, but the Berica management has already taken action, locking down for two seasons what was perhaps the true MVP of the red and white season. Francesca Zara, in fact, architect of Vicenza’s salvation, will remain at the helm of the team until 2026: the contract renewal was happily accepted by the Bassano coach, ready to continue her adventure at the helm of AS Vicenza. A fundamental piece for the construction of the next Velcofin.
After the season just ended, it seemed essential to start again with the salvation coach. Zara arrived in Vicenza at the beginning of December, after a very difficult start to the championship. Little by little, the former national team player started working on the players at her disposal and, in 2024, Velcofin Interlocks Vicenza changed gear: in the second round, the red and whites won 8 games out of 13, a play trend -off, which however was not enough to avoid the survival play-offs, thanks to the great return also shown by Umbertide, the main competitor for ninth place, useful in maintaining A2 without the play-outs. However, her ability to give new life to a disheartened group and to make all the girls available to her emerge technically and temperamentally led the AS Vicenza management to once again focus on the coach born in Bassano.
“We are very happy to be able to stay with Francesca for another two years” declares Lidia Gorlin, sports director of Velcofin Interlocks Vicenza “What we have done in these six months has convinced us that she is the right person to lead our team in the next two years. With her we are sure that we have started an important project.”
The Velcofin Interlocks season has therefore already begun at the beginning of June. The first news will arrive shortly on who will make up the roster available to Francesca Zara for the 2024-25 season.
