The Bagnaia – Bastianini pair confirms themselves as the Italian MotoGP national team.

Friday at Mugello is already full of celebrations, and of news especially on the market.
Marquez openly declares that Team Pramac is not an option, and Campinoti in response, declares that the problem remains with the Spaniard and certainly not with the team.
After the GP, there will be a 3-week break, thanks to the fact that the grand prix that should have taken place in India has been cancelled; which will probably be replaced by the Kazakhstan GP scheduled for September.

Rumors in the paddock already take it for granted that Bastianini has signed with Aprilia and that Martin is on his way to the official Ducati. Hypotheses that cannot be ruled out, but all the parties in question have declared that they will talk about the market in the weeks following the Italian race, to better concentrate on the weekend.

Let’s go back to the track, where we fear, however, the volatile climate, typical of the Tuscan area, particularly concentrated in the days of the GP.
Luckily, it remained stable on Friday, the expected rain did not arrive, and riders in all categories managed to get the job done, improving significantly in the first day’s sessions.

Moto3: Even if in the first sessions Holgado, ready for the jump to Moto2, Rueda and Veijer, try to keep up with David Alonso, in every way, even helping with the slipstreams, they can do nothing with the Colombian, who lowers the track record, taking it away from Tatsu Suzuki.

The race starts with Alonso and Ortolà who try to escape, but in the rear they fight each other and one of the so-called “Misano” curbs, i.e. the curbs with a step away from the asphalt, betrays Zurutuza, who falls and is hit by Farioli’s motorbike. Red flag, to help the pilot, who remained conscious the entire time, and who from the latest news reported suffered some trauma to his back which was not particularly serious.

The race resumes with 12 laps.

Alonso imposes himself, without too many frills, giving a shot that was not expected by his pursuers. Collin Veijer tries to close the gap, setting the fastest lap in the race, but only has to settle for 2nd place, 3rd place conquered by Yamanaka, on his first podium in Moto3.
Furusato, Munoz and Ortolà complete the positions outside the podium respectively, after having recovered from a fall on the last lap. Lunetta 7th, first of the Italians, followed by A. Fernandez, Roulstone, 10th Bertelle.

Alonso leads the drivers’ standings with 147 points, followed by Holgado.

Moto2: At 38 years old, after the race in Barcelona, continuing the adventure with the Ciatti team, riding a Boscoscuro, we find Mattia Pasini, who manages to obtain 7th place in qualifying. Despite the crash in the race, he proves ready to continue competing with the strongest riders in the world in the middle category.
Roberts takes pole, then Garcia, 3rd Lopez, 4th Gonzalez, followed by Binder, Ramirez, followed by Pasini, Chantra, Canet and Vietti. Aldeguer does not participate in Q2 due to neck pain.

The race is shortened, due to time inconsistency, after the red flag in Moto3. At Mugello, thanks to the mixed track and the pronounced straight, the Kalex and the Boscoscuro seem to be on par. In fact, no rider riding an Italian motorcycle can truly make a difference. First Lopez and then Garcia try, but Canet intervenes by lowering the times, Roberts and Gonzalez chase.

At the end of this sort of Moto2 Sprint Race, it will be the American himself, after 2 years of fasting, who will take the victory. Followed by Gonzalez, Lopez concludes the podium.

Garcia is off the podium, but maintains the lead in the world championship with 122 points. He is followed by Ogura 5th, Canet 6th, Vietti 7th, first of the Italians, Guevara 8th, who now seems more constant, Chantra 9th, Ramirez 10th. Fall for Aldeguer.

The world championship is therefore wide open, where Roberts is in full fight to win and is chasing Garcia with only 7 points behind him.

MotoGP: In the Friday sections all the top drivers manage to enter directly into Q2. Morbidelli and R. Fernandez arrive from Q1, on Saturday.

In the morning the track is almost perfect with the right temperature to lower times and records. And in fact Martin obtains pole with a stratospheric time of 1.44.504, followed by Bagnaia at only +0.043. However, the Italian will lose three positions on the grid in Sunday’s race, due to the penalty imposed for having obstructed A. Marquez during one of his fast laps. So Vinales will start from second position, M.Marquez 3rd, then Bastianini, Bagnaia and Morbidelli closing the second row.

In the Sprint Race Bagnaia starts very strong, followed by Martin, fighting with Binder who made a stratospheric start. M. Marquez, Bastianini and Acosta follow.

Pecco, tries to make the move, the others chase him but little by little they distance themselves. Binder is overtaken on every lap, M. Marquez tries to extricate himself, while Bastianini and Martin collide, at San Donato, they touch each other and the Italian, however, gets the worst of it, ending up on the gravel. However, the Spaniard will have the same fate with less than three laps to go, crashing due to a front lock in sector 4.

Thus Bagnaia wins, followed by M. Marquez, then Acosta. Wooden medal for Morbidelli who completed an excellent sprint race. Also among the top 5 are Vinale, 6th Binder, 7th Di Giannantonio, 8th A. Marquez, 9th Espargero, 10th R. Fernandez.

In the Sunday race, the official Ducati presents itself with the blue livery to pay homage to the national teams. And both Pecco and Enea want to do everything to conquer the highest steps of the podium.

And this is precisely how the Mugello weekend will end, with Pecco Bagnaia, starting from 5th place, author of a masterpiece race, always leading the race and navigating the curves of the circuit that is the symbol of Italian motorcycling.

With this victory, the world champion dispels the myth of the 93rd victory, which according to predictions should have come from Ducati Gresini’s number 93, Marc Marquez

And there is also the flash of Enea Bastianini who, right at the last corner, the Bucine, overtakes Martin on the last lap, tying him to the lowest step of the podium.

Bagnaia and Bastianini confirm themselves as the national MotoGP couple. Could changing things perhaps be risky after this performance?

M. Marquez finishes off the podium, 5th Acosta, 6th Morbidelli, 7th Di Giannantonio, 8th Vinales, 9th A. Marquez, 10th Binder. Pole Espargaro had an excellent race, finishing 11th as a wild card.

Martin still leads the world championship with 171 points, then Bagnaia with 153 followed by M. Marquez with 136 points.

Next meeting June 28th, in the cathedral of motorcycling, Assen, Holland. A circuit that has always provided fun and unbelievable overtaking.
