Rugby, DBM Sondalo at the Lecco Tournament

It was an unforgettable day for the DBM probe formations, engaged on two fronts. While the Under 10s attended the final of the Italian Championship in Parma, the Under 8 and Under 12 categories participated in the XIV “Città di Lecco” Tournament, an event which saw the participation of 30 teams divided into the various categories.

For the Under 8s, the day was truly memorable, culminating in yet another podium. After a dazzling start with three consecutive victories, the young probes lost narrowly 3-2 against Varese, however gaining access to the semi-final for first place against the hosts Lecco. Despite a clear defeat in the semi-final, the team did not lose their determination and beat Como in the third place final, securing an excellent third place.

The Under 12 team, after an initial victory, fought strenuously against Varese, losing narrowly, and subsequently had to give in to the battleship Lecco. Despite this, the boys from Sondalo achieved an excellent fifth place finish. In this category, special mention goes to Anna Peña and Dorothy Zanaboni, who played their last match in the mixed categories. From next year they will move to the Under 14, where the male and female categories will be separated, opening up the possibility of a future all-Valtellina female Under 14.

Great satisfaction also for coach Patrik De Piaz, awarded as best coach of the tournament. A well-deserved recognition for a coach who was able to bring together and develop a heterogeneous group of kids to good levels.
