Total red cloud (or rather blue, given the special livery) at Mugello! On the occasion of the Italian GP, event number seven of the 2024 MotoGP, the Ducati Lenovo Team collected a fantastic doublefinding the victory of Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia and the second position of a simply extraordinary Enea Bastianini.
A great performance for “Beast”, who finally redeemed himself from the negative last weekend by creating a sumptuous overtaking against Jorge Martin performed at the last corner, sending the Italian public into raptures after recovering a good six tenths. A sumptuous guide therefore that of Aeneas who, having reached the microphones of Sky Sports Italyhe didn’t hold back his emotion.
“It has a great meaning even if they say that the second is the first of the losers. After a difficult period like the one I had, I needed such an important result at home. Marquez’s overtaking made me close my veins. I went back underneath, passed him and when I saw that I could overtake Jorge too I believed it. He wanted us“, said the Rimini native.

Bastianini then continued talking about the super overtaking on Marquez at the last corner: “I’m sincere. I was in a state of grace. I felt great as I did throughout the race. At one stage I was comfortable. I only blame myself for that moment. I did the last laps like crazy, I was able to do what I wanted. I was already close to him at the start of the race, I had studied him. I understood that at that point he broke away hard, I tried to stay as tight as possible and tight at the last corner. I felt the rear was at its limit but I made a good pick up and came out strong. It was the only thing I could do.”
Lastly, Bestia spoke about his condition: “When I have fun and everything is under control I perform better. I’m missing something to win but I’ve found my form again. Barcelona is a different matter. Today the bike was good and when I manage to be in shape like today I can always give something more“. There was also a dedication: “To my big dog who left me last week, the helmet is also dedicated to her“.
