MotoGp, Italian party at Mugello! Pecco Bagnaia triumphs ahead of Enea Bastianini

Pecco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini score a splendid ‘blue’ double

MotoGP still speaks Italian at Mugello: after the success in the Sprint Race, Pecco Bagnaia also takes the Grand Prix, bringing the official Ducati to the finish line in front of everyone, painted blue for the occasion. His teammate, Enea Bastianini, finished behind him, thus completing a splendid one-two for the Italian colours. Third place for Jorge Martin, fourth Marc Marquez, also on Ducati (from the Pramac and Gresini teams respectively).

The world champion’s start was spectacular: despite the initial penalty forcing him to start fifth, after a few corners he was already ahead of everyone and Martin’s good race behind him wasn’t enough to put pressure on him. Indeed, the Spaniard was outwitted on the last lap by a possessed Bastianini, who in the final laps increased his pace wildly and recovered from fourth to second place, even overtaking Marquez in his comeback.

Completing the Top 10 are Pedro Acosta (GasGas KTM), Franco Morbidelli (Ducati Pramac), Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati VR46), Maverick Viñales (Aprilia), Alex Marquez (Ducati Gresini) and Brad Binder (KTM). Also in the points are Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia), Raul Fernandez (Aprilia Trackhouse), Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati VR46), Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia Trackhouse) and Jack Miller (KTM).

Pol Espargaró (KTM), Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), Johann Zarco (Honda LCR), Luca Marini (Honda) and Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia, wild card) finished without points to add to the standings. Takaaki Nakagami (Honda LCR), Joan Mir (Honda) and Augusto Fernandez (GasGas KTM) retired. In the general classification Jorge Martin remains first with 171 points, followed by Bagnaia at 153, Marc Marquez at 136, Enea Bastianini at 114.
