URC: the referees designated for the 17th matchday

There are just two days left before the curtain falls on the United Rugby Championship regular season. Rounds that will be particularly important for some teams, primarily for those involved in the tight fight to qualify for the playoffs.

The 17th matchday will open on the evening of Friday 17 May, and one of the two Italian franchises involved in the URC will immediately take to the field: Zebre Parma. At Ducali they will welcome a direct opponent in the fight to avoid last place, the Welsh Scarlets. The Lanfranchi match will be directed by Scottish whistleblower Sam Grove-White.

The other Italian team, Benetton Treviso, will face the South African Bulls at their home in Pretoria. The match is scheduled for the early afternoon of Saturday 18 May, and will also be refereed by a Scottish referee, Hollie Davidson.

As regards the direction of the matches, this day of URC will see three Italian referees involved. The now regular Andrea Piardi will referee the clash between Irish Ulster and Leinster, while Gnecchi will be in Edinburgh for the match between the home team and Munster. In Galway, for the Connacht-Stormers match, the designated whistle is Vedovelli.
