Port of Taranto, Costa Fascinosa debuts: sixteen calls planned

The president of the Authority Prete: “It will touch the Ionian airport every Sunday until next September 22nd”

Genoa – After last year’s success, with over 100,000 passengers handled, Costa Crociere officially inaugurated the 2024 summer season Taranto. This morning it docked in port, with approx 3,200 guests on board, Costa Fascinosathe ship chosen by the Italian company to bring Costa cruises to Taranto for the second consecutive year.

This is the first of a series of 16 stopovers, which will see Costa Fascinosa visit Taranto every Sunday, with a stop of approximately 10 hours, as part of a week-long itinerary directed to the splendid Greek islands of Santorini and Mykonos (Greece), Valletta (Malta) and Catania. Costa Fascinosa has 114,000 gross tons and can accommodate up to 3800 guests. It was profoundly renovated in May 2022, with important restyling works.

Roberto Alberti, senior vice president & chief corporate officer of Costa Crociereexplained: “We want to consolidate this success and for this reason we have already confirmed the Costa Fascinosa program in Taranto also for the summer of 2025: it is a great opportunity to be seized all together, working in mutual agreement with the institutions and operators premises, as we have done so far, to constantly improve the services offered to cruise passengers”.

While the mayor of Taranto, Rinaldo Melucci “Each port of call for this splendid ship brings with it a flow of tourists who contribute to the local economy, visiting our historic attractions, enjoying our hospitality and purchasing artisan products. This is the result of teamwork and a shared vision between the city of Taranto, Costa Crociere and all the local tourist operators”. In the end Sergio Prete, president of the Ionian Sea Port System Authority – Port of Taranto, concluded: “Costa Fascinosa will call at the Ionian port every Sunday until September 22nd. The Port of Taranto, thanks to the positive numbers of the cruise season recorded last year, reconfirms itself as the home port of Costa Crociere and today had the honor of officially launching the 2024 summer season of the exclusive Mediterranean itinerary that unites Italy, Greece and Malta”.
