The Trevisos rise again after the victory in the Challenge quarterfinals, Bordeaux out of the Top10

The weekend of the quarter-finals of the European cups, played between Friday 12 April and Sunday 14 April, offered some truly exciting matches: Bordeaux-Harlequins, Leinster-La Rochelle and Toulouse-Exeter above all. Benetton was also rejoicing on the final day of the Challenge Cup.

The Treviso team gained access to the semi-finals after beating the Irish from Connacht 39-24 thanks to tries from Gianmarco Lucchesi, Tommaso Menoncello, Rhyno Smith and a double from Tomas Albornoz. On Saturday 4 May the green and whites will visit the English team Gloucester to play for the final which will be held on 24 May in London, on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitch.

Thanks to the victory in the Challenge Cup, Benetton thus gained three positions in the ranking and reached 11th place, 0.29 points from the Top10.

Leinster and Northampton Saints are still firmly at the top of the table. Stade Toulosain climbs to the lowest step of the podium, gaining a position thanks to the great victory in the Champions Cup quarter-finals against Exeter Chiefs. The French scored 64 points against the English, scoring 9 tries and conceding just 2.

Harlequins also went up with a double jump in the rankings and 2.37 points gained. The ‘Quins beat Bordeaux in France with a result of 41-42 in a very close and beautiful match. Five tries for the English with a very precise Marcus Smith from the pitch, 5 out of 5 for the fly-half.

The South African Blue Bulls lose two positions in the ranking due to the defeat in Northampton, in the Champions Cup quarterfinals, 59-22. La Rochelle also loses a position: the reigning two-time European champions were overwhelmed in Dublin by Leinster 40-13 in the remake of the final of the 2022/2023 Champions Cup edition.

Bordeaux, which had entered the Top 10 in the previous week, lost 8 positions after the home defeat against Harlequins and dropped to 15th place in the ranking. The same goes for Exeter Chiefs who are relegated one place and join the other English clubs who are stationed between 10th and 30th position.
