The two companies have signed an agreement that will lead to the birth of the “Savino Del Bene Volley Academy”, unique at a national level which provides for an innovative partnership at a technical and organizational level.

The main objective will be to create value in the women’s volleyball scene through the growth of athletes who will make use of the guidance of trained technicians, managers and organized structures attentive to the needs of girls and their families.

As part of the project, a common path from the Under 13 category to the Under 18 category will be proposed to the athletes and their families.

The characterizing points of the agreement include: synergy in the definition of guidelines at a technical level, which can be verified and improved through periodic updates between coaches, joint training sessions, training meetings for accompanying managers.

Particular attention will also be paid to the aspects of training, inclusion and aggregation, today increasingly considered an integral part of the human and sporting growth of female athletes.

Satisfaction with the agreement reached was expressed by both parties.

“Like San Michele, we are very proud to see our name associated with that of Savino Del Bene Volley” – says Fabio Borri, Vice President of the San Michele Sports Center – “We are two clubs that have known and respected each other for a long time, and who thought about the opportunity to combine their efforts also considering the proximity in the area.
From this was born the idea, which then became the desire, to create a path that could offer each girl the opportunity to practice volleyball at a high quality level, respecting the different technical maturation times and trying to counteract the unpleasant phenomenon of abandoning sports practice. All this without forgetting the aspect of the human training of female athletes, in a modern vision of sporting activity which now increasingly considers sporting and human growth to be inseparable”

Sandra Leoncini, CEO of Savino Del Bene Volley: “With the Savino Del Bene Volley Academy, a new horizon opens up for the youth sector of our company and in general for Florentine and Tuscan volleyball. A very ambitious project was officially born today, which places girls and consequently families at the center of everything.
In a historical moment of particular uncertainty for volleyball and for sport in general, with the changes to the membership processes well known to all, we are happy to be able to offer athletes the opportunity of a long and solid path. Without forgetting the quality. Hence the choice to join the San Michele Sports Centre: an absolute excellence of the territory which has profitably looked after the technical and human growth of its members for over 60 years”.

Appreciation for the partnership project was also expressed by the administration. Nicola Armentano, delegated councilor for Sport of the Metropolitan City of Florence, declared: “Keeping these two realities together means combining history with ambition. It is a wonderful satisfaction to see together the desire to play sport within an important perimeter of values, as it is for San Michele, with the ambition of trying to achieve great objectives, such as those that Savino Del Bene Volley has already achieved which last year he won a European title and is once again in contention to compete for the Italian title”
and underlines “It is also important to give young athletes the opportunity to combine a sporting career with a school career, even at a high level. Examples are Domitilla Picozzi from 7rosa, a recent medical graduate and Matteo Restivo, doctor and champion of Rari Nantes, about to go to Athens. One objective of our policies in recent years has been to break the prejudice that put young people who had the dual commitment of students and athletes in difficulty.”

Cosimo Guccione, sports councilor of the municipality of Florence, wanted to congratulate the two companies involved in this new partnership: “Congratulations to San Michele which has managed to do quality work in recent years, thus proving to be an attractive partner of one of the strongest teams in our women’s volleyball championship.
Congratulations to Savino Del Bene Volley for having chosen to make this investment in the youth sector by tying up with an important partner, but above all congratulations to both entities which have the possibility of growing by creating value, some for the base and therefore for the youth sector, some for the high level.”
