Lorenzo Musetti snatched a good result (the round of 16) from the Master 1000 in Miami. The Italian tennis player regained a lot of confidence after the victories during the event and the good performance offered in the super challenge against Carlos Alcaraz.
In the press conference, the 22-year-old from Carrara took stock of the adventure in Florida: “It was a positive and unexpected week. I arrived here with few expectations, I was just hoping to be able to play it and then it turned into the best result of the year , both in terms of result and expressed tennis.
I’m happy, this sport has taught me that things can change at any moment, now the hope is to be able to bring this Lorenzo over the next few months and into the rest of the season” he declared, in the words also reported by SuperTennis.
The birth of his son gave the Tuscan more peace of mind: “Ludovico gave me a nice surprise, and I received a nice surprise here”.
From the match with Alcaraz to the clay court tour
“There is regret for the result, the goal is always to win but playing against the number 1 seed, a player with full confidence after winning Indian Wells, obviously wasn’t easy.
It was a hard-fought match, Carlos had to sweat and the score was deceiving. In some situations I rushed a bit and made some bad choices, I also deserve credit for his game and his physicality.
It was a good match even if we could do better.” The class of 2002 is now waiting for the start of the clay tour: “It’s the swing I’m looking forward to the most, it’s a bit like coming home.
My first tournament on clay will be Estoril, then in Monte-Carlo I will have a big challenge to defend but I feel at home there and I have always done well in the past. Then I will do Barcelona, Madrid, Rome and the Slam.
It will be a nice tour on clay but first I want to go home and then start again with new motivation and stimuli.”
