Simone Cicalone, a well-known YouTuber, was the victim of an attack while he was in the Rome subway. The episode, which involved a gang of pickpockets, occurred yesterday afternoon at the Spagna stop on line A. Cicalone recounted the incident via his Instagram channels, describing how a group of people, presumably of Latin origin, surrounded him and his team. According to what the YouTuber reported, the group of attackers was made up of at least ten individuals: “We were making a new video on the subway, there was a mess, they broke the camera, they hit Evelina who hit the wall, she was both beaten by a man and by women. Then the police intervened and stopped them. One was banned from staying in Rome, but he stayed here. I hurt my nose, knee and neck. After the attack I ended up in the emergency room.”

The attack occurred while Cicalone and his collaborators, including the videomaker Evelina, were on the dock in the direction of Lepanto, ready to start filming a new video. The situation quickly escalated when the attackers attacked the group. Evelina was pushed against a wall and hit, and her video camera was destroyed. The timely intervention of the Railway Police (PolFer) stopped the assault, allowing two men to be stopped, while two women managed to escape into the track tunnels. Cicalone described the episode as a premeditated ambush, explaining that one of the attackers faked a fight to distract the group, before the others attacked them. Both Cicalone and Evelina suffered injuries that required hospitalization at the Santo Spirito hospital. A new episode therefore involves the YouTuber, who in recent days has been “reported” by the CGIL for his anti-pickpocket videos. What will the union say now after the attack and the rush to hospital?
