Mara Favro, the mystery of the woman who disappeared in Val di Susa: now being investigated for murder

The investigation into Mara Favro, the 51-year-old waitress who disappeared in Val di Susa (Turin) after the night between 7 and 8 March, is now a homicide. The file, initially opened without any hypothesis of crime, was modified after the woman’s brother, assisted by the lawyer Roberto Saraniti, sent a complaint for murder to the prosecutor’s office in Turin. Meanwhile, the carabinieri are widening the audience of people interviewed, to which the neighbors have been added, among others.

The versions collected so far do not coincide

The versions collected so far do not entirely coincide. Some new testimonies refer to dates and times that would place the woman not at work, contrary to what was initially believed. In particular, two witnesses recalled seeing her for the last time in her home on March 7: the first at 8.30 pm, the second at 9.30 pm. Version that seems to coincide with the content of an alleged message that the waitress sent to her employer on the morning of the 8th, in which she said that she would no longer work in the restaurant. However, the message is no longer available, as her cell phone cannot be found and her employer, the owner of a pizzeria in Chiomonte, would have deleted it.

The owner’s version

According to reports, and recorded in the minutes, by the owner of the pizzeria “Mara Favro, on the evening between 7 and 8 March, went away with the pizza chef, in his car, even though he didn’t have a driving licence”. the latter would then have left her in front of a pub in Susa shortly before three in the morning Mara would have returned, thanks to a lift from a truck driver, because, according to the owner, she had “forgotten her house keys and a pack of cigarettes”. Then she would set off on state road 24, again towards Susa. This time on foot and in the dark for just over 7 kilometers of distance. “I couldn’t accompany her, since I can’t go out after midnight”, she said. explained the owner of the place, who has been on probation for years after a conviction for criminal association aimed at drug trafficking, enslavement and exploitation of prostitution.

Version partially denied by the pizza chef

However, this version was partially denied by the pizza chef. “I didn’t accompany anyone. I don’t have a driving licence. She gave me a lift to the Susa road bend, because she had come to work by car. She told me that the car was broken”, said the man, who fired a few days ago and is said to be planning to leave the country. The owner of the restaurant firmly supports his version, because, according to what he reported, “the evening that Mara disappeared, at around half past three, like every night or almost, the police patrol came to check on me at home “.
