Threats, harassment and violence against one pregnant woman. According to the prosecution, Luigi Morgantenational vice president of We Moderates and former regional councilor of Puglia, persecuted and molested a woman with whom he had had a relationship, after she told him she was pregnant. According to investigations, the no. 2 of Lupi’s party repeatedly threatened the woman, leading to episodes of violence, such as in July 2023, when she insulted her, threatened and attacked her by pulling her hair and hitting her with a stick to the legs. The Bari Prosecutor’s Office issued a notice of the end of the investigation, and now the politician is accused of persecutory acts with the aggravating circumstance of having committed the crime against a woman he was allegedly involved with bound by a relationship sentimental.

In the following months and until November 2023 – as written in the notice of conclusion of the investigations signed by the prosecutor Silvia Curione – On one occasion Morgante slapped the woman, on another he put his fingers on her hands around the throat and, after pushing her onto the sofa, he tried to suffocate her. Based on what emerged from the investigations, Morgante also threatened the woman withintent on having her abort telling her: “This child it must not be bornYou are dead”.

But Morgante’s lawyers Anna Leone And Leonardo Andriulo they deny the charges and announce they have filed in response a complaint. “We strongly reject the allegations regarding our client Luigi Morgante, a person of integrity and with a high civil profile. He never engaged in any persecutory and/or stalking behavior, much less did he ever use physical and/or mental violence against the plaintiff. We would like to point out that there has never been a relationship sentimental and indeed, our client was target of threatspersecutory acts, extortion attempts and defamatory activities for a long time,” they explain.

And they add: “A reality has been artfully reconstructed exclusively for the purpose of causing harm damage to the image and to the professionalism of Luigi Morgante. We have filed a formal complaint for the aforementioned facts with the Taranto Prosecutor’s Office.
