in-depth analysis

Piero Pelù: “I fought depression, now I’m going back to music”

Deserti, a musical journey into the depths of current affairs

Deserti” represents the second chapter of the “Trilogy of discomfort”, a musical project that began in 2020 with the publication of “Pugili fragili”. The new album explores profound and current themes, such as loneliness, alienation and disillusionment, with the typical grit and intensity that have always distinguished Pelu.

Novichok, a taste of Deserts

To present his new work, Pelu released the first track from the album, “Novichok”. The song, which takes its name from the nerve agent used in the 2018 Salisbury attack, is a reflection on war and violence, with a message of hope and the fight against injustice.

“Novichok” was recorded in a special place for Pelù: the cellar in via De’ Bardi in Florence, where Litfiba, the historic band of which Pelù was the frontman, were born and took their first steps. A tribute to his origins and a return to his rock roots.

The “Deserti Tour” takes Pelù around Italy

To see Piero Pelù live we will have to wait a few months: the “Deserts Tour 2024” it will start on June 29th from Spilimbergo (PN) and will end in September, but it will be an unmissable opportunity to listen to the new album live. On stage, the Tuscan rocker will be accompanied by a band of super musicians of the caliber of Giacomo Castellano “Castillo” on guitar, Luca Martelli “Mitraglia” on drums and Max Gelsi “Sigel” on bass. An exceptional lineup for a great return that promises to be one of the most anticipated musical events of summer 2024.
