Rings of Power, Barrowwraiths Revealed in New Images [FOTO]

New images continue to arrive from the highly anticipated second season of The Rings of Powerand after the first look at Tom Bombadil it is now possible to admire the Barrow Wraithsentities well known to all who have read The Lord of the Rings.

These beings are among the first adversaries encountered by Frodo and his friends during The Fellowship of the Ring, however they were cut from Peter Jackson’s film adaptation. In the novel, we learn that Specters inhabit the tombs located in the Let’s take him away (called Poggitumuli in the latest translation of the novel), a hilly area that extends between the Old Forest and Bree.

Many of these burial mounds, some of which date back to the First Age, house great Kings and nobles of Dúnedain lineage who fought against the Witch-king of Angmar during the War between Arnor and Angmar in the middle of the Third Age. It was the Witch-king himself who sent the Wraiths to occupy the tombs in disgrace to his enemies.

Clearly it cannot be the same Ghosts encountered by Frodo, since the events of The Rings of Power take place in the Second Era, therefore much earlier, but it is more likely that they will in fact be Specters sent to haunt the tombs of heroes dating back to First Era.
