Atomic Monster and Blumhouse have joined forces once again to expand the universe of M3GAN (plus the sequel coming next year) with a movie titled SOULM8TE.
Described as a “90s erotic thriller,” the film hits theaters in the United States on Friday January 2, 2026 directed by Kate Dolan, director of You Are Not My Mother.
Dolan also rewrote Rafael Jordan’s initial screenplay (Salvage Marines) starting from a story by James Wan, Ingrid Bisu and Jordan himself.
M3GAN proved to be a major success in winter 2023, grossing more than 181 million dollars all over the world. The sequel, M3GAN 2.0, will arrive in the room on June 27, 2025 with Allison Williams and Violet McGraw returning as the leads.
“Ultimately I see this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness” commented Dolan. “Despite technological advances, there are some imperishable human truths we cannot escape, so I look forward to delving deeper into these themes“.

SOULM8TE – The plot
In SOULM8TE a man buys an android equipped with artificial intelligence to deal with the death of his wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently transforms a harmless lovebot into a mortal…soulmate.
