On this occasion, the total takings were 2,249,513 euros (negative record in 2024, with four titles in the top ten under 100,000 euros and no titles above 1,000 euros in average copy), while in the weekend 8-11 June 2023 3,862,063 euros were obtained, not exactly an extraordinary figure (but however we are at -41.6%), given that no title in that case exceeded one million, with the second weekend of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse from 938,575 euros and the debut of Transformers – The Awakening from 936,591 euros.
Better levels for the weekend 6-9 June 2019, when 4,965,183 euros were collected, thanks to two titles just over one million, namely the debut of Pets 2 – Life as animals with 1,051,799 euros and the third weekend of Aladdin from 1,016,140 euros. The best result comes from the weekend of 7-10 June 2018 with 5,598,057 euros, thanks to the monstrous debut of Jurassic World – Fallen Kingdom from 3,728,553 euros.
Obviously, the 2023/2024 comparison gets even worse. As of June 9th, last year they were cashing in 204.489.302 euros, while as of 9 June 2024 it reached 196,301,409 euros. However, yesterday was also the first day of Cinema in festa, thanks to a taking of 687,940 euros with 189,893 admissions. We remind you that on the previous occasion, Sunday 17 September 2023, it opened with 1,826,958 euros and 499,260 attendances thanks to Murder in Venice (647,809 euros), Oppenheimer (375,400 euros) and The Nun 2 (264,798 euros), in short, a more captivating panorama of titles. On Sunday 11 June 2023, however, 1,124,988 euros and 313,863 attendances were achieved, thanks to Transformers – The Awakening at 279,757 euros and The Little Mermaid at 265,736 euros. It should be noted that Sunday 11 June 2023, with the figure of 1,124,988 euros and 313,863 attendances, had done worse (in terms of takings) than Saturday 10 June 2023, when 1,265,399 euros and 167,922 attendances had been obtained. Yesterday, however, as mentioned, the figure was 687,940 euros with 189,893 attendances, compared to 739,783 euros and 100,619 attendances on Saturday 8 June. It is therefore better to end the promotion period and then draw up the sums.
And let’s get to the titles. It is not surprising that they remained in the lead Me against you the film – Operation spies, however with a result of 486,079 euros and an average of 957, which means a decrease of 54% compared to last weekend, when 1,043,936 euros were obtained. For now, the total is 1,808,623 euros.
I remember that Me against you – Jungle mission it opened on January 19, 2023 with a first weekend of 2,324,965 euros and a second of 1,049,734 euros (at that point it had reached 3,787,314 euros), and then reached a final total of 4,803,251 euros. Me against you the film – Holidays in Transylvania it had debuted on 19 October 2023 in the first weekend with 1,742,233 euros and then continued in the second with 868,648 euros (reaching at that point at 3,138,260 euros) and closing at 4,591,473 overall. In short, after the second Sunday we can say that the films had obtained 60-75% of their final takings, which would mean for Spy operation having to close around 2.5-2.7M, but let’s see how much Cinema in festa will bring to a target family who could be very happy to save.
In second position, Kinds of Kindness with 389,054 euros and an average of 855 in 455 cinemas. It’s easy to say that there is a big difference with the debut of Poor creatures!also with the pairing Yorgos Lanthimos – Emma Stone, which opened with 270,857 euros on January 25th, a weekend of 1,997,226 euros and a final result of 9.1M. In short, Kinds of Kindness will struggle to reach two million overall.
Let’s see the other debuts. The Watchers – They are watching you, as happened in the United States, did not break through, and had to settle for 237,730 euros and an average of 727 in 327 cinemas. Much worse The murder roomseventh with 73,653 euros and an average of 292 in 252 cinemas. Hotspot – Love without a network continues in the wake of Italian films with the worst average print of the top ten (in this case, with 261 euros), and a gross of 72,485 euros in 278 cinemas. The other Italian film is outside the top ten, El Paraisowhich earned only 26,803 euros and an average of 439 in 61 cinemas.
Let’s go back to films in tenitura, starting with Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which falls further (-63%) and collects only 139,172 euros, with an average of 592 and a total of 1,576,410 euros. Will it reach two million in total? Difficult. It’s not better (but it cost significantly less) a The exorcism – Last actsixth with 120,129 euros and a drop of 68%, with an average of 429 and a total of 606,327 euros.
Fifth position for IF – Imaginary friends, which has to settle for another 124,239 euros and an average of 455, down 52%, in an attempt to reach two million (at the moment it is at 1,816,283 euros, so it should get there in the summer). Different story for alternative content like anime Haikyu!! – Battle to the last refusal, which gets another 73,108 euros and an average of 366 euros, down 83% (high but predictable) and a total of 675,645 euros. The Sky series directed by Valeria Golino closes the top ten The art of joy – Part 1 with another 60,479 euros and an average of 340 euros, down 56% and a total of 243,564 euros.
And let’s get to the totals outside the top ten, starting with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apeswhich reached 2,836,190 euros (the three million are therefore insured); The Fall Guywhich reached 2,162,312 euros; Garfield – A tasty mission with 2,048,714 euros; A world apart with 7,059,017 euros; The taste of things to 591,722 euros; Challengers to 4,283,445 euros; The Penitent at 103,361 euros.
