The great cinema scene at Luce Social Club

Cinema, theatre, entertainment, the latest releases in the literary and musical fields: to stay updated on the news of the contemporary Italian cultural scene, the weekly event to mark on the diary remains the one with Luce Social Club. Directed by Max De Carolis and the hosted by Denise Negri and Federico Chiarini, the 22nd episode will be broadcast on Sky Arte – for the first time – on Friday 12 April. In the studio, once again, doors open to the protagonists of art and culture. Michela Giraud and Rita Abela present Flaminia, the directorial debut of the Roman comedian and actress. The film, in which Giraud and Abela are co-stars, tells the true story of the director’s relationship (in the role of Ludovica) with her sister (Flaminia, a girl on the autistic spectrum played by Abela). “Michela had the flair, the courage, the desire and the will to talk about characters that are not told, yet are part of life”, explains Abela. The rhythm and blues sounds with an international flavor blend with Italian songwriting with the singer Kaze, who presents his debut album, POST BUIO. “I always write starting from myself and then expand towards what’s around me,” she says. Precisely for this reason, the singer-songwriter specifies, the underlying theme of the album is “being able to get out of your head” and therefore, she adds, “the objective is to create a safe space; maybe there is a song that allows you to free yourself from a burden, from something that you don’t want to carry around with you”. Finally, another directorial debut is that of the singer and actress Margherita Vicario, who with Carlotta Gamba in Luce Social Club describes his first film from “behind the camera”. Il di lei Gloria di lei! Di lei, in Italian cinemas from 11 April, focuses on the story of Teresa who, in Venice at the end of the eighteenth century, discovers her piano. “The context is completely realistic,” says Vicario, “and I discovered this by studying a bit. I went looking through the pages, looking for the names of the great composers” who, specifies the director, “have always existed, only that far fewer of them have gone down in history”.
