There is no peace for Faenza. While efforts are still being made to clean the city of the water and mud from the flood, another emergency is gripping it: in fact, around 11 a.m. a big fire broke out at the Caviro Cooperative factory in Via delle Convertite, in the industrial “Boaria” on the northern outskirts of Faenza.
Among the numerous companies in the surrounding area there is also the AlphaTauri Formula 1 team which occupies a vast area a few tens of meters from the Caviro and which employs about 400 people at its headquarters in Faenza. Many are returning from Florida where the Miami Grand Prix took place last night.
It is still not clear what happened, but it seems that some explosions were heard distinctly, alcohol tanks could have exploded.
We recall that the Caviro Cooperative is the largest Italian wine cooperative with over 400 million euros in revenues and first in Italy for market shares in the wine sector. Caviro was born in 1966 in Faenza to enhance the grapes of the members. Today, the Group exports to over 80 countries and with Caviro Sca represents the largest winery in Italy and the first company in terms of volumes of wine produced in our country.
Thanks to the company Caviro Extra Spa is engaged in the recovery of by-products derived from the wine and agri-food chain which are transformed into noble products for thefoodThe pharmaceutical and theagriculture and in biomethane. It is the market leader in the production of alcohol in Italy and world co-leader innatural tartaric acid. Furthermore, with the joint venture Enomondo, what remains is transformed into energy from renewable sources.
Firefighters are on site. Staff working in several companies in the area have been evacuated.
