Castelfranco Veneto (Tv), 30 June 2024 – Stage success and overall victory. Simone Raccani could not have asked more of “his” mountains: the 23-year-old from Carrè (Vi), chose the last kilometers of the Schio-Ossario del Pasubio to show off his best attack that sent all his opponents into crisis and allowed him to sign another great feat.
Stage characterized by a three-way breakaway, the fifth and last of the 32nd Giro del Veneto; Tommaso Nencini immediately entered the day’s action and captured Traguardi Volanti and thus won the special classification marked by the yellow jersey. The escape ends at the slopes of the climb that leads to the summit of Pasubio: the climbers go wild on these ramps with Raccani, who, escorted by Cettolin and Guerra, gives way and climbs steadily. At minus 5 from the finish line Simone Raccani returns to the lead of the race and takes control of the situation. The Vicenza native imposes his own forcing which drains the remaining energy of his opponents until, 3,000 meters from the summit, he relaunches the action and leaves in perfect solitude.
A decisive and overwhelming action by Simone Raccani who, pedal after pedal, dug an unbridgeable furrow for all his opponents and, above all, for the provisional leader of the race Sergio Meris. Raccani reaches the finish line alone, pushes until the last pedal stroke and allows himself only one arm raised towards the sky. The party begins a few seconds later, when the certainty of success in the final ranking arrives.

I couldn’t disappoint them and I absolutely had to repay the team for the great work they have done for me throughout this week. I am very happy with this success that is worth double, I dedicate it to the team, to Gianni Faresin and Egidio Fior in particular who have always believed in me and who have given me the serenity and the right motivation to return to my level” commented Simone Raccani after the finish line.
