A Centre dedicated to pathologies that affect the thyroida multidisciplinary management and a path that follows all the essential steps – diagnosis, treatment and surgery – is inaugurated at the Beato Matteo Clinical Institute in Vigevano of the San Donato Group. The collaboration between endocrinology, led by Carmine Gazzarusoand the radiology, internal medicine, general surgery and medical oncology unit, in order to offer patients all the treatments useful for the treatment of thyroid diseases.
“The goal is to make the Institute completely autonomous in the care of patients affected by thyroid pathologies, without the need to direct them to external structures for some specific services, such as thermoablation and needle aspiration – says Professor Carmine Gazzaruso -. This new Center wants to facilitate patients who from today will be able to have a single reference for the entire treatment path, with the sole exception of nuclear medicine”.
The Center also wants to respond to local requests, where diagnostic services, such asneedle aspiration and clinicssuch as thyroid thermoablation, are not routine and force patients to move to other facilities or other provinces. Thanks to the experience of Guido Poggiresponsible for the diagnostic and interventional oncology and hepatology area, it is now possible to undergo thermoablation, a minimally invasive method that allows the size of thyroid nodules to be reduced, at the Beato Matteo Clinical Institute.
The more complex cases, such as malignant neoplasmswill be co-managed by the endocrinology and medical oncology teams. The Center also avails itself of two other professionals: Samuel Ngnitejeu Tatageneral surgeon expert in endocrinology and Dr. Giuseppe Mariani, internist and internal medicine sonographer led by Pietro Gallotti.
