Anzio. Maranesi (UCDA): against the management of Nero’s villa by the Castelli Romani park

The archaeological park of the Villa and Caves of Nero, which has always been the historical heritage of the City of Anzio, cannot be entrusted to the regional body Parco dei Castelli Romani.

The City of Anzio has paid and has been paying for years now for the disfigurement of local services and infrastructures to the benefit of the Castelli Romani area, as recently happened with the closure of the birth center at the Anzio – Nettuno Riuni Hospital.

As if that were not enough, the Regional administration chaired by Francesco Rocca also wants to get its hands on one of the most beautiful places in the world, the ancient villa of the Roman emperor Nero.

The archaeological museum was established in 2000 by the first centre-right administration De Angelis, redeveloping an area that was in a state of abandonment. Today it is the place in Anzio most visited by any tourist coming from all over the world, also the subject of important cultural events such as “OCCIDENTE”.

We will not allow that once again, a cultural and naturalistic heritage such as the Archaeological Park of Nero’s Villa is being tampered with, we will not allow it to become a second “Tor Caldara” under regional management in a complete state of abandonment.

If the Rocca-led regional administration does not revoke the above decision, we are ready for a citizen petition and also for an appeal to the Lazio Regional Administrative Court to request its annulment.

It is clear that if the regional administration were to continue with these arrogant coups to the detriment of our city, it will be difficult for our civic coalition to continue a collaborative relationship with the center-right in the future.
