Reggio Emilia The renewal of Lorenzo Libutti’s contract was taken for granted after the meeting two weeks ago and should materialize in the next few days.
The defender will sign the extension of the agreement with the Reggio Emilia probably for a year with the option for a second season based on an objective that will not be salvation but something more ambitious. This is the only point still under discussion between the player’s agent, Stefano Barattin and the Granata sporting director Marcello Pizzimenti.

Barattin is disappointed, not to say angry, at the little use and low consideration that Libutti had from coach Alessandro Nesta and perhaps he has every reason to do so given the value and technical flexibility of the player. His season tally is one thousand minutes played, in nine games as a starter, ten as a substitute while he remained on the bench 19 times.

Sometimes only the extraordinary humanity of the man is highlighted to the detriment of the player who has demonstrated in recent years at Reggiana that he is important in the four-man defence but above all as the third in the three-man defence and for this reason that he deserves a starting shirt in Serie B.
“Libutti wants to stay at Reggiana – he continues – but with the right consideration for the technical value and not only. Unfortunately, Alvini aside, Lorenzo has always been called to demonstrate his value but I would like to point out that after the relegation to C he was the only one with a market”.
At the end of that season Ascoli had knocked to have Libutti offering 150 thousand euros but the sporting director Doriano Tosi he asked for double because of the player’s skill.
Libutti’s extraordinary nature can also be measured by the fact that when he renewed his contract with Reggiana in Serie C he had set the promotion to Serie B as a condition for the following year. This is why Libutti’s agent could accept only a one-year contract or an automatic renewal in the event of Reggiana making the playoffs, obviously with a significant increase in his salary.

This is a thought that all Granata athletes share also because his tactical flexibility is important given that Libutti can play both on the right and on the left, he can be used as a winger in the four-man defense or central defender in the three-man defense but above all he is a “little soldier” who obsessively carries out the task assigned to him.
Not to be overlooked, then, is that Libutti is preparing to play his sixth year in the Granata for a total of 116 appearances and two goals.
