Taranto: “Acclavio kids” in the library from today

Below is a press release released by the Municipality of Taranto:

Starting Monday 1st July, the laboratory activities for boys and girls of Acclavio Kids in via Pisa, will move to the Acclavio Library, in via Salinella 31. This move, while maintaining the days and times of the activities unchanged, was necessary due to the upcoming start of renovation work that will affect the headquarters in via Pisa. The building will undergo a major structural and logistical intervention, with the aim of making it more functional and welcoming, better responding to the needs of the young readers who regularly frequent the facility.

Therefore, starting from July, all interested families will have the opportunity to continue the laboratory experiences started, such as: The Bee Library: on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10.00 to 11.30 in the dedicated spaces of the Acclavio library in via Salinella 31 in Taranto; Green Thumb little readings and tiny gardens for grandparents and grandchildren: on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 6.00pm to 7.30pm in the dedicated spaces of the Acclavio library in via Salinella 31 in Taranto

Given the positive response received in terms of participation in the initiatives, it was decided to continue the laboratory experience by continuing to guarantee the service aimed at the youngest.

It should be noted that the renovation of the Children’s Culture Center in via Pisa represents a priority objective on the agenda of the Municipal Administration, aimed at the new generations of the community. Active since 2012, the center is a recreational, educational and cultural point of reference for children aged between 0 and 11, parents and educators. The modernization intervention aims to create a welcoming structure both inside and outside, which can become a point of reference for local families. At the end of the work, a program of workshop activities will be offered, aimed at promoting the principle according to which education means creating spaces that enhance childhood and children’s rights, in safe, welcoming and cared for environments. These spaces will promote well-being, socialization and learning. The activities will also have a value of study and educational research, thanks to the creation of collections and documentation aimed at disseminating the results achieved.

The project for the extraordinary maintenance, adaptation and enhancement works of the structure therefore aims at a complete restyling, both internal and external. The objective is to fully respond to user needs, making the structure visually identifiable as a Recreational Center for Children, surpassing the current one of a kindergarten. This restyling will concern both the structural aspect and the offer of activities, in harmony with the spaces in which they will be carried out.
