Still an accident at work in the Modena area, this time it happened on the road in the early afternoon yesterday. We are on the National road to Carpi, at the height of the hamlet of Ganaceto. Here the 27-year-old employee of a private company was taking care of some work at the traffic light, which is why he was on a platform that would have allowed him to reach the plant.
While It was inside the basket, a heavy vehicle hit the platform: the impact caused a sudden movement of the machinery and the operator was injured. He was wearing a safety harness which prevented a very serious fall on the asphalt. However, it was immediately clear that the man needed the intervention of medical personnel. The Bologna operations center sent an ambulance to the site. At the same time, the assistance of the local police was also requested.
Trafficin fact, at that time on the National team for Carpi it was particularly intense and already in the first few minutes after the accident long queues had formed both towards Modena and in the opposite direction.
The medical personnel who arrived in Ganaceto treated the 27-year-old on site and at first his conditions did not seem so serious despite the impact he had suffered. It was decided to transport him to the emergency room of the Civil Hospital of Baggiovara. Here the doctors of the University Hospital performed several medical tests. The outcome, however, led the professionals to immediately transfer the 27-year-old to the Intensive Care Unit. The prognosis, until the time we went to press, was reserved.
In the meantime, traffic on the National Road to Carpi was blocked for a long time, as the local police were busy investigating such a delicate accident. And since it was formally an accident at work, the personnel of the Occupational Medicine of the Modena Local Health Authority were also involved. The same technicians found that the arm of the aerial platform was bent but that the worker was still wearing the protections and life-saving devices that are mandatory in these cases. In fact, it is not the first time that accidents on aerial platforms have turned out to be fatal precisely because of the lack of prevention.
In any case, it will be up to the Modena local police officers, with the support of Occupational Medicine, to establish whether and what are the responsibilities for the latest accident affecting the Modena area.
