“Moreover – he says – water basins are very important because prevent flood-related damage as they also reduce the full of rivers. Given the lack of water resources even in our province, what are we waiting for to make a definitive project to identify where to build a new basin or reservoir?”
“As the new mayor of Pesaro – says Biancani – I am convinced that it is urgent to make important choices in this sense. Time is practically up. Where to build the new basin is not a political choice, it must be only a technical choice. The political choice is to decide to give the technicians the mandate to complete the study. We are so late that we cannot even clean the existing basins, now reduced to 50% of their capacity, because we cannot afford to empty, clean, any of the 3 basins that we have. The risk is to run out of water§”.
“Thinking of solving the problem by using groundwater or spring water is increasingly anachronistic – says Biancani – as the lack of snow and increasingly violent rains do not allow the recharging of the underground aquifers. Another choice to undertake, especially to deal with emergencies, is the desalination plant that would allow us to use sea water to feed the aqueduct”.
And the Pesaro administration has always decided to spend 100 thousand euros right away for cleaning and arrangement of the ditches 7 ditches Vismara, Villa Fastiggi, Montegranaro e Wall, Cattabrighe e Colombarone. We do this to better deal with increasingly extreme climate events. The maintenance of the ditches, for 2024, will not end with these seven ditches but the resources must be found as soon as possible”.
