Lucca, 1 July 2024 – This the appointments in the parish communities announced yesterday by the archbishop, Monsignor Paolo Giulietti.
West Garfagnana. Don Jean Damascene Muziraneza, of the diocese of Byumba (Rwanda) will be the new parish administrator of the parishes of Camporgiano, Capricchia, Careggine, Casciana, Cascianella, Filicaia, Poggio, Puglianella, Roccalberti, Roggio, Sillicano, Vagli Sopra, Vagli Sotto and Vitoio- Casatico, replacing Don Jean Berchmans Turikubwigenge, transferred to another position, and Don Giuliano Salotti, who will retire. He will begin his pastoral ministry on Sunday 15 September 2024.
Garfagnana East. Don Riccardo Micheli, until now the parish priest of the Valfreddana Sud parish community, will be the new moderator parish priest. Don Giovanni Grassi and Don Giovanni Marovelli will remain parish priests of solidarity; Don Fulvio Calloni will assume the role of Rector of the Sanctuary of San Pellegrino in Alpe and the Hermitage of Capraia; Don Giuliano Salotti and Monsignor Giuseppe Dini will retire. The aforementioned priests will avail themselves of the collaboration of the permanent Deacons Francesco Linari, Luigi Luciani (who leaves the role in Alta Garfagnana) and Francesco Pieretti. Don Damiano Bacciri will leave his current roles in the parish community; Don Giancarlo Biagioni will leave the care of the Pontecosi parish. Don Riccardo’s pastoral ministry will begin on Sunday, October 6.
Northwest sheds Mons. Emilio Citti will be the new parish priest of Lappato, Petrognano and San Gennaro, already entrusted to Don Cyprien Mwiseneza, who has been transferred to another role. Deacon Giampaolo Benedetti, until now assigned to the Capannori NordOvest parish community, will collaborate with the priests of the Collodi-Villa Basilica parish community. The beginning of the pastoral ministry of Msgr. Citti will be Sunday 15 September 2024.
South Valfreddana. Don Samuele Del Dotto, until now vicar of parishioners in the Marlia parish community, will be parish priest of the “Valfreddana Sud” parish community, replacing Don Riccardo Micheli, who has been transferred to another position. He will begin his pastoral ministry on Sunday 12 September.
Oltreserchio South. Don Cyprien Mwiseneza, until now parish priest of Lappato, Petrognano and San Gennaro, will be the new parish priest moderator of the parish community replacing Msgr. Giuseppe Bernacchioni transferred to another position. He will begin his ministry on Saturday 14 September.
Morianese. Mons. Giuseppe Bernacchioni, former moderator parish priest of the Oltreserchio Sud community, will collaborate with the presbyters of the Morianese community and in the assistance of the inmates of the San Giorgio District Prison, as a volunteer chaplain. The beginning of his pastoral ministry will be Sunday, September 22.
Villa Basilica-Collodi. Don Jean Berchmans Turikubwigenge, coming from the Garfagnana Ovest community, will be the new parish priest of Collodi and Veneri and moderator of the Villa Basilica-Collodi community. Don Antonio Tidei will remain parish priest of the parishes of Colognora, Pariana and Villa Basilica; Don Giovanni Checchi will continue to lend his collaboration to the extent possible. Deacon Giampaolo Benedetti, until now assigned to the “Capannori Ovest” parish community, will collaborate with the aforementioned presbyters. Don Turikubwigenge will begin his ministry on Saturday 28 September 2024.
Hospital and Parish of San Luca. Don Damiano Bacciri, from the Garfagnana Est community and Don Volodymyr Lyupak (of the Exarchate for the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic faithful in Italy and Chaplain of the local Ukrainian community) will be the new Chaplains and Parish Priests of the San Luca Hospital, Fr. Luciano Meli Ofmcapp will collaborate with the new leaders, according to the indications received from them. The beginning of the ministry will be Saturday, August 31.
