A constructive discussion dedicated to the common good. This is what re-elected mayor Luca Salvetti hopes for in his letter of summons to the councilors, called to present themselves at 3:00 pm today, Monday 1 July, for the first session of the renewed Council. And although the agenda only includes administrative acts, the climate in the chamber will be immediately measured on the election of the president. The majority will unanimously propose the name of Pietro Caruso, already on the presidency seat in the previous council, but for the green light two thirds of the votes (22) will be needed, one more than the PD and center-left civic lists, including the mayor, can express. Considering that the center-right will fall back on its own candidate (probably the lawyer Andrea Dinelli who joined the Guarducci list) as will the Primo Polo, it is foreseeable that we will arrive at the third convocation of the city council, when at that point there will be a run-off between the two most voted candidates.
The session will open with the validation of the elected and will be an opportunity to see many new faces both in the majority and among the opposition. Among the 14 councilors of the Democratic Party, there are four new faces, all under 40, at their first experience: these are Giulia Guarnieri (30), Mia Diop (22), Andrea Benassi (39), and Giulia Aringhieri (37). All new, with the exception of Arianna Terreni (elected with the Dems in 2014-19), the councilors of the majority civic lists and the representative of the Green-Sinister Alliance, Denise Bertozzi. In the center-right, it is the first time for the unelected candidate Alessandro Guarducci and Andrea Danieli, as well as for the provincial president of Gioventù Nazionale elected with Fratelli d’Italia, Alessandro Palumbo (31 years old). Meloniani who bring back to the Council benches, Marcella Amadio, the passionflower of the right queen of preferences in this last electoral round. Costanza Vaccaro will still be in the chamber but with Alternativa popolare, while in the Primo Polo there are the returns of Belaise and Morini.
Once the validation has been completed and the deputy councilor has been elected, it will then be the turn of the mayor to swear in and communicate to the council. Until, in fact, the election of the president on whom, after the discussion and the vote with a probable null outcome, the work will be closed, postponing everything to the next session.
