On Monday 1st April the 2024 Tour de France arrives in Piedmont with the third stage of the Gran Depart which took it from Florence to Rimini and from Cesenatico to Bologna.

The 2024 Tour de France, the 111th edition, will take place from 29 June to 21 July and for the first time will start in Italy and for the first time in its history will finish in Nice, therefore not far from Piedmont and not in Paris, at the end of 3,492 km with a 34 km time trial from Monaco.

With the third stage Piacenza-Turin on July 1st the Grande Boucle arrives in Piedmont to cross the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, Cuneo and Turin. The fourth stage then starts from Pinerolo to arrive in Valloire in France.

Municipalities, Pro Loco and sports associations have created a program of cultural and culinary events linked to the Tour de France 2024

The third stage, the longest part of the Tour with its 230.8 kilometers, starts from Piacenza at 11.15 to reach Pavia around 12.00 and arrive in Voghera around 12.50 and enter Piedmont around 13.00 in Pontecurone. At this point the homage to Fausto Coppi with the Cote dedicated to the Campionissimo in Tortona. Afterwards, the route heads towards Alessandria where the Tour arrives at 13.45. The race then enters Monferrato heading south-east towards Nizza Monferrato and Canelli around 14.33. It then enters the province of Cuneo arriving in Alba around 15.30 to go back up north-west to the Cote de di Sommariva Perno around 16.00 and then head north arriving in Carmagnola at 16.30 and then head decisively towards Turin crossing Carignano to arrive in Stupinigi. At this point begins a long straight that will take the Tour de France into Corso Unione Sovietica to make a U and launch itself towards the finish line in Corso Galileo Ferraris in front of the intersection with Corso Sebastopoli.

On Tuesday 2 July the Tour restarts from Pinerolo for a 139.6 kilometer Alpine stage up to Valloire. The race starts at 1.05pm to go up Val Chisone towards Perosa Argentina, Fenestrelle, Pragelato and reach Sestriere at 2.40pm. The route then proceeds downhill towards Cesana to go back up towards Claviere at 3.10pm and enter France at Montgenevre. The stage will then pass through the legendary Galibier hill before reaching Valloire.
