The traditional Ciaccio Festival returns to Palagano

Every year the Palagano Master Ciacciai organize the “Ciaccio Festival” in the municipality of Palagano. This edition will be held on 29 and 30 June and the center of the event will obviously be the local food stands. In addition to ciaccio, you can taste all the traditional “poor” foods of the area and typical Modena dishes: chestnut fritters, fried gnocco, crescentine, potato cake.

Returning to Ciaccio, the protagonist of the two days, it is a dense mixture of flour, water and salt called “la colla”, cooked on iron plates, called “cottole” and seasoned with a mixture of lard, rosemary, garlic and parmesan cheese, a traditional seasoning also used for crescentine. To defend the art of preparing this exquisite one-dish meal, a traveling corporation was born, I Maestri Ciacciai Palaganesi who, together with the Municipality of Palagano, promote the Sagra del Ciaccio Palaganese. Two days of celebration and fun, among typical products, ancient traditions, inflatables for the little ones, crafts and a backdrop of musical performances, entertainment and cultural events.
