LIVORNO – Carabinieri paratroopers Tuscania: celebrations in Livorno
The 1st Carabinieri Parachute Regiment Tuscania has celebrated the memory of its constitution, which dates back to 1 July 1940, mentioning the ‘fact of arms’ which brings together all its members and former members under the name of eluate He Aselthe desert gorge of the Called Cirenaico where the first Carabinieri Paratroopers tested themselves, in skills and value militaryand sacrificed to the country, against clearly preponderant adversaries, in December 1941.
Born in July 1940in Roma, by the will of the Government to include, in the family of Italian paratroopers, also volunteer soldiers of the Royal Carabinieri corps, the then Royal Carabinieri Paratroopers Battalion wrote a long page of history, from its baptism of fire, in North Africa during the Second World War, up to the reconstitution of the department at the beginning of the 60s, and then arriving at the present day, through a demanding series of operations in Italy, in support of the more traditional force, which guards the national territory, and abroad, in the most difficult theatres of operation.
The last few years have been equally challenging: more than forty years ago, Tuscania took part in the mission ITALCONwho fielded a continuumgmilitary entity supporting the population during the Lebanese civil war, starting an incessant series of increasingly frequent missions abroadfrequent and challenging: memorable participation in IBIS, in Somalia, at the beginning of the 90s, the Balkan military campaigns, the mission in East Timor at the turn of the 90s-2000s, participation in all international activities in Afghanistan and Iraq, in support of the various international organizations that conducted the military maneuvers. Furthermorethe Tuscania carries out the delicate task of ensuring security of the Italian Embassies in the countries characterized by the highest levels of conflict, comand Iraq, Libya and Somalia, and offers its own expertise also in training contexts, in Lebanon, Somalia and Libya.
