The conservative renovation has been completed, started a year agoOf Borgo dei Conti Resort, Relais & Châteaux in the heart of Umbria, 20 kilometers from Perugia and not far from Lake Trasimeno. The resort, which is owned by the entrepreneur Charles Babinibears the signature of the Milanese architecture studio Spagnulo & Partnerswhose project has a connection with the history of Umbrian Renaissance painting.

Today the structure has a 16-hectare estate within which there is the Villa, once the noble residence of Count Lemmo Scotti, where now there are rooms and suites, the farmhouse (a twentieth-century building), the centuries-old park, two new gastronomic addresses, the Cedri Restaurant and the Osteria del Borgo, in addition to the bar, wine cellar, infinity pool and Spa.

The villa and the farmhouse are where the lobby, rooms and suites are located. The lobby, completely revisited in its spaces in a contemporary key, is characterized by furnishings that recall the colors of the earth and welcomes guests in a library or entertains them in the billiard room. In the villa that opens the first 21 rooms and suites – out of a total of 40 – during this season, the noble floor returns to its ancient splendor with “The Count’s Suite” e “The Countess’ Suite”both emblems of local history thanks to the recovery of original architectural elements such as large fireplaces, 19th century pictorial insertions and fascinating beamed ceilings. With a direct view of the garden, a modular surface area of up to 180 square meters, these two signature suites allow exclusive use of the entire main floor, guaranteeing maximum privacy and every comfort of stay.

The interior design – the textures, the colors and the precious materials used – take inspiration from 15th and 16th century painting, while the local craftsmen and their “know-how” have been entrusted with the task of reinterpreting the material culture of the territory. The artisans create design elements that use native materials, from the Etruscan terracotta of Montone (Pg) and the Sugaroni furnace of Castel Viscardo (Tr) that characterize the rooms and all the common areas, to the fabrics by Giuditta Brozzetti that embellish cushions and headboards.

As for the f&b, it is Emanuel Mazzellathe new executive chef of the resort, who interprets the Umbrian nature from which he draws inspiration for his cuisine, faithful to a vision that celebrates the seasonal raw materials of the area, many of which are grown in the organic garden inside the resort.

Instead, the new Spa, located in the building annexed to the villa, uses the brand’s anti-aging products Nescenspresent for the first time in Italy.
