Gesap, board of directors accepts Riggio’s resignation but former CEO remains on the board

The board of directors of Gesap, the management company of the international airport ‘Falcone Borsellino’ of Palermo, met in continuation of the meeting held at the beginning of the week. The board of directors accepted the decision of Professor Vito Riggio to resign from the position of CEO, while remaining on the board as a director. Furthermore, within the general delegations of the board of directors, it was decided to assign the powers necessary to maintain efficient business operations to the president Salvatore Burrafato, as legal representative of the company, and to the new general manager Massimo Abbate, while maintaining collegial management. Finally, the position of head of personnel was assigned to the general manager.

“We tried, once again, to ask Professor Riggio not to leave the position of CEO – says Burrafato – unfortunately, we were unable to do so. However, the professor will remain on the board and will be able to make a valuable contribution to the company. The solution we have implemented will serve to ensure the full operation of the airport, focusing on the experience of the general manager, who in this particular moment will be able to help us lead the company towards the next efficiency goals”.
