The locality of Alta Valsassina, in Province of Leccois managed by aassociation of volunteers who has been taking care of the area for years: in winter A ski lift and a magic carpet keep a small, family-friendly ski resort activein the other seasons the Association carries out a fundamental function of protecting the territory, taking care of roads and paths. The new tubing track will allow the treadmill to be used all year round, reducing the dependence of the Association’s revenues on the snow factor.
Will open Saturday 6th Julyafter the inauguration late Friday afternoon, the new tubing track on Alpe Giumelloa route that allows for a fun descent with special inflatable boats also called “donuts”, specifically created for this “outdoor” activity practiced on lawns, but also in waterways. The track will be open every weekend in July and every day from August 4th.
Particularly suitable for families with children, it will represent a new source of income for the Association, reducing the dependence of its activities on the snow factor. The last three winter seasons, also due to the absence of a programmed snowmaking system, have in fact been characterized by particularly difficult weather conditions.
The Association’s investment demonstrates its commitment to valorising the territory: powered by a large group of volunteers, it is combined with a solid respect for the environment through the maintenance of the paths and the protection of the Alpine ecosystem, adopting measures such as replacing all the hydraulic oil in the snow groomers with ecological and non-polluting oil.
The tubing track represents only the first step towards summer development: the aim for 2025 is in fact to create a nature trail it’s a large wooden marble runstrengthening the play offering for families with children.
Alongside this, the Association does not forget the winter vocation of Alpe Giumellowith the commitment of keep the ski resort activegiving continuity to a tradition which, in 1927, saw the construction of one of the first ski lifts in Lombardy.
The associative activities are made possible only thanks to thetireless work of the volunteers and the commitment of the two leading activities of the place, Ristoro Genio and Shambalà Refuge who with their respective families lead the Association, which operates with the fundamental support from the Municipality of Casargo and is supported by sponsorships of some local economic activities.
The projects of the Alpe Giumello Association are the necessary response at a time when flexibility, renewal and eco-sustainability not only allow us to overcome the difficulties of a winter ski resort, but also respond to the desire of those who would like to enjoy nature and the mountains all year round, respecting and enhancing them.
