While waiting for the first City Council of the new administration to be called, political gossip is rising in Campobasso about what will happen after the first meeting. The center-right has made it known that it has no intention of making deals and that it wants to make the most of the majority that has matured in the civic assembly, even though it now has the mayor and the city council against it. In this regard, it is precisely the ‘toto-assessore’ that is holding court in the corridors of local politics. Mayor Marialuisa Forte has publicly made it known that she intends to start with a streamlined executive for the initial tasks and to expand it as the work progresses; this fact is already creating discontent and some stomach aches in the center-left, or rather, in the progressive pole. Some members of the Cantiere Civico are said to be against it; at the moment there is talk of non-elected subjects, who however point out that there is an agreement to be respected on the council, which provides for three assessors for them and which cannot be postponed to the Greek calends. Even in the PD, given that there are many contenders, the hypothesis does not seem to be particularly welcome.
We recall that Campobasso, as a capital city, can join the band of a higher level and therefore the municipal executive can reach up to nine assessors; for the moment we are talking about ‘only’ four assessors. The criterion was made known by the mayor herself: “The political weight of the parties and elected officials will certainly count. he said – but we also want to find competent people who can carry forward the ideas and the program.”
This ‘mini council’, therefore, should include at least one between Bibiana Chierchia and Giose Trivisonno; the first was a sort of shadow of Marialuisa Forte, alongside her in all public demonstrations, while the second preferred a more discreet profile, but with equally important electoral results. At the moment a councilor would be part of the Five Star Movement and since the elected members are former municipal councillors, it is not known what the selection criteria are; a councilor also for the Green and Left Alliance and it is not known where the balance tips between Domenico Maio and Bartolomeo Terzano, whether the young socialist or the environmentalist expert, given that the name selected will then be the definitive one for the continuation of the legislature.
In the Civic Construction Site the first available place should be assigned either to Pietro Colucci or Vincenzo De Iasio. We imagine that the many delegations not assigned at this stage will be taken over by the mayor.
